Who we are
UPC and UA groups at a glimpse
Since 1999, the groups from UPC and UA have collaborated actively in research initiatives related to radar remote sensing, as it is demonstrated by the previous 6 coordinated projects of the National Plan, carried out consecutively (TIC2002, TEC2005, TEC2008, TEC2011, TIN2014, and TEC2017). This collaboration has enabled the joint participation in many R&D projects of the Earth observation programmes of international space agencies (ESA, DLR, CSA, JAXA), as well as contracts with private companies and other institutions. As a result of this joint effort, a significant number of publications have been generated, both in the form of articles in indexed journals and contributions to international conferences (with awards in some of them, e.g. EUSAR2000, 2004, 2012, IGARSS2005). Numerous PhD theses have been supervised, with a successful integration of the new doctors in companies and research centres working in the same fields as their theses. Members of both groups have carried out stages in international research centres, and international researchers have been invited to the premises of both groups. In addition, both groups have participated in the generation of on-line courses for the IEEE-GRS Remote Sensing Training Materials.
The UPC group leads the data processing and sensitivity analysis activities, with the focus placed also on the contribution to technical aspects of a GEOSAR mission. They also carry out innovative experimental radar developments for improved radar observation.
The UA group is also involved in the sensitivity analysis. In addition they carry out a study on the added value of time series of radar data from multiple sources.
